The LORD hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.
— Psalm 69:33

Why Monica?

Monica ministries is named after Augustine’s mother, Monica, who prayed for 17 years for her son to come to the Lord. Augustine was a wayward young man, involved in all kinds of perversions. Monica, his mother relentlessly, pursued him in prayer, as well as following him across the Mediterranean ocean. Her faithful devotion to her son, resulted in him becoming a believer, and who we know today as one of the most influential Christian authors of all time and sainted by the catholic church.

Monica Ministry is a Christian prayer ministry that is devoted to praying for men and women who want to better their lives. These individuals have been or are presently in prison and many suffer from addictions. They all have a desire to be integrated back into society make positive choices and need prayer support.

Many of these individuals who are requesting prayer are also involved in Whitestone Canada Ministry (About | Whitestone Canada) which offers one on one support.

What to expect?

This ministry is a call for woman to rise up and pray, like Monica, for another person as if he or she were their own child. She is someone who has a heart to care for someone as a mother would for her own child in prayer. This ministry provides a way for women to pray for someone on a daily basis, bringing their needs before the Lord.

As a Monica, we spiritually adopt the person. We have seen phenomenal answers to prayer. People have come to know the Lord, have strengthened their walk with the Lord, some have stayed sober , and those who are still struggling, are becoming stronger. Some of those we pray for, have become mentors to others, some have led others to the Lord, and some have started their own ministries. God is doing remarkable things through prayer.

Women never meet the person they are praying for, utmost discretion and confidentiality is expected of all Monicas. Communication is always done through the facilitators.
